SBDC Client Success Story

and building, identified appropriate funding sources and connected them with those agencies. She ensured that they were able to acquire the funding necessary to move forward with their project.
The Bradys continued to work with Patricia as they designed their new facility, decided on a location, purchased additional equipment and hired new employees. By spring of 2006, and after six years of counseling with Patricia Krausman, Brady Built Technologies moved to their new 18,000 square foot facility, which allowed them to realize their growth potential and meet true market demand.
Patricia Krausman’s assistance helped build this business from the ground up to its current success. Throughout the life of this business, she has served as an advisor and management consultant to ensure their growth and success. She helped them create documents and gather financial data imperative to the financing of start-up and expansion. Additionally, she helped them understand and manage their cash flow by creating spreadsheets and introducing them to QuickBooks.
Because the Bradys sought funding from local economic development agencies and were looking to acquire land for their facility, the expansion became a community affair. Patricia, who has worked extensively with economic and community leaders in this area, helped facilitate the communication between the Bradys and the community officials they needed to work with. By identifying appropriate funding resources and bringing everyone to the table, she was able to leverage traditional bank funding with job creation and economic impact program dollars.
As a result of those efforts, Brady Built Technologies currently employs 27 employees at their 18,000 square foot facility in Lebanon, Kentucky. Sales have grown from under $100,000 during their first year to $1.5 million in 2006. They are projecting sales to exceed $2.3 million in 2007. This is substantial economic impact especially in Lebanon, a town of 5,500 people.

“Patricia has been with us throughout the entire journey. She sat with us at our kitchen table when we were deciding to go into business and most recently helped us to expand into our 18,000 square foot facility, where we employ 27 people. All along the way we looked to her for guidance.”

In 2000, Joe Brady knew there was room in the marketplace for another metal fabricating business in Central Kentucky. In his job in the industry, he consistently saw mid-size companies being overlooked or turned away. He just wasn’t sure how to capitalize on this niche opportunity. The local banker suggested that Joe and his wife, Carla, utilize the SBDC to determine the feasibility of opening a metal fabrication business in a building located next to their home. The relationship between the Bradys and the SBDC began at their kitchen table, when Patricia Krausman met with them to assist with the feasibility analysis of the idea and put together a proposal for funding. Throughout the life of their business, they have continued to rely upon the services of the SBDC for management assistance in growth planning and financing.
After just one year in operation, the Bradys again looked to the SBDC for assistance with securing funding for an expansion and guidance on assessing their growth challenges related to cash flow. Patricia helped them gather data, analyze their historical financials and assess cash flow problems. By creating financials and a growth plan for the bank, they realized their first expansion for the business.
Two years later, Brady Built Technologies completely outgrew the facilities located next to their home. They decided it was time to move operations into a larger, more suitable industrial setting. Again, they contacted Patricia Krausman for assistance with their need to move and expand the operations. She helped gather the data for the loan proposal, assessed expenses related to the move
